Board of Directors Profiles

Prof. Uday B. Desai is the founding director of IIT Hyderabad. Currently, he is a Professor Emeritus at IITH, Chancellor at ICFAI University, Dehradun and a Strategic Consultant for Telecom Standards Development Society of India.

He led IIT Hyderabad to join the ranks of top 10 engineering institutions in India within 10 years. He is a member on various boards and governing councils of top academic institutions like IIT and chairs several committees under MEITY, DRDO, and other private organizations.

A recipient of many prestigious awards, he has authored 9 monographs and over 300 peer reviewed papers, published in International journals. His expertise spans in AI, Wireless Communication, Wireless Sensor Networks, Cyber Physical Systems and IoT.

Prof. Uday received his B. Tech. from IIT Kanpur and Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, U.S.A, all in Electrical Engineering.
